By Intriq | Updated October 14, 2026 Guide: https://www.intriq.app/blog/how-to-follow-up-after-networking-events/ Use this in any notes app. No account needed. You may copy, adapt and share this blank kit with your event group or colleagues. Keep completed personal notes private. The examples are prompts, not messages to send automatically. 1. THE ONE-MINUTE CONTACT NOTE Person: Where and when we met: What they are working on: One detail worth remembering: What I promised: Next action and date: A natural reason to reconnect: 2. BEFORE YOU SEND [ ] They will recognize where we met. [ ] I refer to something we actually discussed. [ ] I have included any resource I promised. [ ] I am not promising an introduction without permission. [ ] The next step is specific and easy to decline. [ ] The message sounds like me. 3. FOUR MESSAGES TO ADAPT A. The resource you promised Subject: [Resource] from our conversation at [event] Hi [name], good meeting you at [event]. You mentioned [specific challenge]. Here is [resource] as promised. [One sentence about why it might help.] No need to reply, but I hope it is useful. B. Permission for an introduction Hi [name], I met [person] at [event]. They are working on [relevant topic], which reminded me of your work on [connection]. Would you be open to an introduction? No problem if the timing is not right. Only connect them after both people agree. C. A conversation worth continuing Hi [name], I enjoyed our chat about [topic] at [event]. Your point about [specific detail] gave me something to think about. Would you be open to [small next step]? Happy to keep the conversation here if that is easier. D. Reconnecting after time has passed Hi [name], [specific event or observation] reminded me of our conversation at [event]. How did [the project or milestone they mentioned] go? Hope you have been well. 4. A LIGHT FOLLOW-UP ROUTINE After the event: save the short note before the details fade. Next day or two: send promised resources and a message where appropriate. Later: choose a check-in tied to a real milestone, not an arbitrary deadline. If there is no response: leave space. Repeated nudges are not a relationship. 5. TEN-MINUTE WEEKLY REVIEW [ ] Fulfill any outstanding promises I can act on. [ ] Choose one or two people I have a useful reason to contact. [ ] Read the last note before writing. [ ] Record the next action or close the loop. [ ] Remove reminders that no longer make sense. Optional: Intriq keeps notes and recordings organized by person, so you can recall the context before your next conversation. https://www.intriq.app/
