Your holiday card list,
all in one place.

A holiday card list is one line per person: their name, their mailing address, and whether you sent a card. Use the prompts to remember who belongs on it, add names, then print the list or download it for address labels.

01 / WHO TO SEND TO

Go down the list. Add whoever comes to mind.

Each prompt is a nudge for your memory. Type a name and press Add, and it goes straight onto your list in the right group.

  1. 01

    Family

Parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, cousins, and in-laws.

  2. 02

    Close friends

The people you would call first with good news.

  3. 03

People who helped you this year

Someone who watched the dog, lent a hand on moving day, or made an introduction.

  4. 04

    New neighbors

A card is an easy first hello to someone who moved in this year.

  5. 05

    Coworkers and your manager

Your manager, your team, and anyone who made the year easier at work.

  6. 06

    Teachers and coaches

Your kids' teachers, a coach, a tutor, or a music teacher.

  7. 07

Old friends you've lost touch with

A card is a low-pressure way back into touch.

  8. 08

People who sent you a card last year

Check last year's cards if you kept them. Names added here are marked as having sent you one.

  9. 09

Someone who had a hard year

A loss, an illness, a move, a new baby. A few kind words matter most here.

02 / ADD SOMEONE

Add a person, with as much or as little as you know.

Use separate lines, the way it goes on the envelope.

Paste a list of names One per line

Paste from your notes or a spreadsheet column. Bullets and numbers are removed, and anyone already on your list is skipped.

Nothing you enter is sent to Intriq or any other service. Your list lives in this tab unless you choose to remember it in this browser.

The CSV opens in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets, and works as the recipient list for an address label mail merge.

Off by default. When on, your list is saved on this device only, in this browser's storage. It is never uploaded.

BEYOND THE LIST

Write something only they would get.

The best line in a card is the specific one: the new job, the move, the trip they kept talking about. Intriq remembers what is new in each person's life, so when you sit down with a stack of cards, you know what to say to each of them.

    WHO GETS A CARD

Who should be on your holiday card list

There is no right number of cards. A good list is the people you would be glad to hear from, plus the people who would be glad to hear from you. Most lists come together in three passes.

The people you see. Family, close friends, the neighbors you wave to, and the coworkers you spend your days with. These are the easy ones, and they are also the ones it is easiest to forget because they feel obvious.

The people who showed up this year. Whoever fed your cat, covered your shift, wrote a reference, or taught your kid to read. A card is a simple, lasting way to say thank you, and the people who get one for a reason tend to remember it.

The people you have drifted from. An old roommate, a former manager, a friend from a city you left. A holiday card is one of the few ways back into touch that needs no excuse. If someone had a hard year, a few kind words can mean more than anything else in their mailbox.

Then check last year: anyone who sent you a card belongs on the list unless you have a reason to let it go.

    PRINTABLE TEMPLATE

    Prefer paper?
    Print a blank list.

The blank holiday card list template has room for a name, an address, and two check boxes: one for the card you sent and one for the card you got back. Print a few pages and keep them with your cards and stamps.

The blank CSV has the same columns as the export, so you can fill it in on a computer and use it for labels later.

    WHAT TO WRITE

Short holiday card messages for each group

Start from one of these, then swap the brackets for something real. One specific line beats a long one. Change "Happy holidays" to "Merry Christmas" or any greeting that fits.

    Family

Thinking of you all this season. This year went by fast, and the best parts had you in them. Can't wait to see you soon.
Happy holidays from our house to yours. Thank you for always showing up for us. We love you and hope the new year is good to you.
Sending love for the holidays. I still think about [a moment from this year] and smile. See you at the table soon.

    Friends

Happy holidays! This year was better because you were in it. Here's to more [your thing together] next year.
I know we don't talk as often as we'd like, but I think of you more than you'd guess. I hope this season is a restful one.
Thank you for [something they did this year]. It meant more than I said at the time. Happy holidays, and let's catch up in January.

    Work

Happy holidays, and thank you for a good year of working together. I really appreciated [a project or a moment]. Enjoy the time off.
Wishing you a restful break. Thanks for making the hard weeks easier this year. See you in the new year.

    Neighbors

Happy holidays from your neighbors at [your house number]. We're glad you're on the street, and we hope the new year treats you well.
Season's greetings! Thank you for [the snow shoveling, the package you saved, the wave every morning]. It's nice to live next to you.

    Helpers, teachers, and anyone else

Thank you for everything you did this year. [One specific thing] made a real difference to us. Wishing you a peaceful holiday season.
Thinking of you this season. I know this year asked a lot of you. I'm here if you ever want company or a coffee.
Happy holidays! Your card last year was a bright spot, so this one is long overdue. I hope the new year brings you good things.

    A few useful answers

Is the holiday card list maker free?

Yes. The list maker, the printable template, the CSV export, and the message ideas are free, with no account or email required.

Where is my list stored? Is anything sent to Intriq?

Nothing is sent anywhere. Your list is built in this browser tab, and analytics and session recording are turned off on this page. If you turn on "Remember this list in this browser", the list is saved in this browser's localStorage on this device only, so it is still here when you come back. It is not backed up and does not sync to your other devices. Private windows and clearing your browser data erase it. Choose Clear list to delete it yourself, and download the CSV if you want a copy you control.

Who should you send Christmas cards to?

Start with family and close friends, then add the people who made your year easier: a neighbor, a coworker or manager, a teacher or coach, someone who helped you out. Add anyone who sent you a card last year, an old friend you have lost touch with, and anyone who had a hard year. A card does not need a reason beyond "I thought of you."

Should I send a card to everyone who sent me one last year?

It is a kind default, not a rule. Mark those people with "They sent me one last year" so you can see them at a glance. If someone is no longer in your life, it is fine to let the card go. If you want to keep the connection, a short note with one specific line is plenty.

How do I print address labels from my list?

Choose Download CSV. The file has one row per person with Name, Group, Address, Sent, Received last year, and Note columns, and the full address sits in one column with its line breaks. In Microsoft Word, open Mailings, start a Labels mail merge, choose Use an Existing List, and pick the CSV. Most label templates that accept a spreadsheet can read the same file.

When should you send holiday cards?

Many people mail them in the first half of December so they arrive before travel and parties take over. For cards going across the country or abroad, check the post office's published holiday mailing dates for this year and work back from those.
